Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling let a genie out of the bottle when he dressed in drag as singer Christina Aguilera for a fundraiser last week.
On Thursday, at the Battle for the Brain fundraiser, Easterling put on a wig, makeup, corset and garter to perform “Lady Marmalade” in a lip sync battle that raised $250,000 for Alzheimer’s research.
But his decision received mixed reviews on social media ranging from those who thought his performance was a beautiful contribution to charity to those who thought it was too dirrty for the Mayor:

(@_yvngrebel_) Some residents seemed hurt. Perhaps they prefer a mayor who is a bit more down to earth.
But Easterling is a fighter and his critics can’t hold him down.
He defended his decision in an interview Monday with WSB/TV saying that he did it for a good cause and would do it again. “I try to put the fun in fundraiser,” he said.
Ain’t no other man for the job.
